World under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion Jackline Chepkoech and world under 20 3,000m silver medalist Zena Jemutai won their titles at the 4th leg of Athletics Kenya track and field weekend meet at the Mumias Sports Complex.
Chepkeoch, competing alongside her compatriot Edna Chepkemoi won the 3,000m title in the final event today in the water and barriers with focus to defend her title in Cali, Colombia.
The athlete who trains at the Global Sports Communication in Kaptagat won the title in9:48.57 ahead of Chepkemoi (9:59.66) and Doris Cherop completing the podium timing 10:13.06 and Joyce Munai came 4th in 10:27.36.
Jemutai, the 5,000m specialist won the women’s 5,000m in 15:55.33 beating Maureen Chepkoech to second timing 16:19.71 followed by Nelly Jeptoo (16:14.61) and Abigael Chelimo in 4th clocking 16:20.65.
Josephine Chelangat and Boaz Kiprogot were the winners in 1,500m women and men respectively.
Chelangat won the women title after clocking 4:05.4 followed Judith Kiyeng (4:07.0) and Monica Margaret for top three positions in 4:09.5.
In other results, Samuel Chege won the men’s 100m title in 10.3 followed by Martin Juma (10.4) and Moses wasike in 10.7.
