Kibet storm into the final as Jebitok forfeit 1,500m

World under 20 800m bronze medalist qualified to compete at the finals of the ongoing World Indoor championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Kenyan junior runner won the first heat in 1:48.31 to progress into the finals that will be held tomorrow at the same venue.

He said that he was well prepared for this championships and was sure of winning his first race easily.

“The main goal for me was to reach the final, where I’ll try to do my best and to show my indoor Personal best. I trained hard and physically I’m ready to go under 1:46.0,” said Kibet.

He added that he is still young and ready to face career best time.

“I know I’m still young and I have to perform at championships like that as often as possible to become more experienced and to feel more comfortable and confident among senior athletes,” he said.

World under 18 1,500m bronze medalist Ednah Jebitok forfeited the 1,500m and maintained her focus in the 3,000m tonight.

The Africa under 20 1,500m silver medalist should have been the first Kenyan on track but decided to take one race as the only Kenyan who was to double at the two day championships.
