Reigning world half marathon record holder Peres Jepchirchir will be attempting to break the world marathon record.
The two time world half marathon champion Jepchichir is determined the break the 2:14.04 world record mark currently being held by Brigid Kosgei she set t the 2019 Chicago marathon.
With both athletes in Kenya marathon team for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan alongside world marathon champion Ruth Chepng’etich said she wanted to rub 2:17 and went ahead to manage the time whn she had her personal best at 2:23.
“Breaking the record may not be easy but it can happen. I used to pray to God so that I can run 2:17 and it happened therefore breaking the barrier is not hard,” said Jepchirchir.
“I will be attacking the 2:15 in my way to 2:14 for world record. I will try my best. It may not be easy to run 2:14,” she said.
