Tusker claim top position as Mathare beat Leopards and Gor draw

Former champions Tusker FC returned to the top of the league following their victory against Western Stima in a match played at the Ruaraka grounds.

Henry Meja scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against relegation threatened Stima.

The Robert Matano coached side went ahead in the 10th minute through Boniface Muchiri before Baron Oketch levelled after converting the penalty in the 78th minute for 1-1 but Meja sealed the victory in the 63rd minute.

Following the win, the brewers have taken to the top position on 44 points, two above KCB who have a match in hand while Abdalla Juma coached Stima remained in the 16th with 13 points.

Former champions Mathare United shocked AFC Leopards at the Ruaraka grounds.

Eugene Wethuli scored the solitary goal as slum boys ended their 12-match winless with a 1-0 win to slow down Leopards speed to win the title they last won in 1998.

The 2008 champions Mathare registered their first win since February 8 after beating Nzoia Sugar by the similar score.

Despite the win, the Frank Ouna coached side are still rooted at the bottom.

Champions Gor Mahia were held to a barren draw against Wazito FC in a match.
