Reigning Olympic marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir will lead other Kenyans at the 2022 New York City marathon set for November 6th.
Jepcirchir will be heading to defend her title she won last year whe she was named in the provisional line up at one of the World Marathon Majors races.
After missing to compete at the World Championships in Oregon due to a hip injury, Jepchirchir will lead other Kenyans led by Viola Cheptoo Lagat among others.
Last year, she won the title 2:22:39 ahead of Lagat to second in 2:22:44.
Others in the lineup include Ethiopian Ababel Yeshaneh Ethiopia’s Senbere Teferi (2:24:11), Gotytom Gebreslase, Edna Kiplagat, Caroline Rotich (2:23:22), Grace Kahura (2:30:32), Hellen Obiri (debut) and Sharon Lokedi (debut).
Former Kenyan turned Israel and World championships bronze medallist Lornah Salpeter, Sara Hall, Emma Bates, Aliphine Tuliamuk, Des Linden, Nell Rojas, and Stephanie Bruce, all from USA, will also compete.
In men’s category, defending champion Albert Korir will come up against his compatriot Evans Chebet who is reigning Boston Marathon champion.
