John Kariuki swings into Limuru Open Victory

John Kariuki used home ground advantage to oust other golfers to win Limuru Open Golf championships, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series on par 72 Limuru golf club.

Kariuki fired three over par 75 in the last round for a total of two over par 218 to beat defending champion Robinson Owiti with one shot 219 to finish second while KAGC champion Samuel Njoroge from Railways completed the podium with +6 ahead of Nyali’s Daniel Nduva on count back.  

The former KAGC champion fired three under par in the second round to put him in the lead after a two over par 74 in the opening round.

The Great Rift Valley Golf Resort’s Simon Njogu took the first round gross on 73. Taking the second and third rounds were Mike Kisia (71) and Ebill Omollo on 73

The Kenya Amateur Golf Championship series takes a one-week break before action resumes with Coast Open at the Mombasa Golf Club course.

This year, the Coast Open also known as Barry Cup is marking 100 years since it was started in 1913. It has been taking place annually save for the first and second World Wars.
