Julius Yego set to reclaim javelin title as he throws to Tokyo World Championships final

Former Olympic Games javelin silver medalist Julius Yego will be seeking to reclaim his title at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The veteran thrower threw 85.96m to qualify into the finals after beating the 84.50m qualifying standards in Group B set for Thursday September 18th in search of the title he won last in 2015.

With his five African javelin titles, won silver at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in Brazil after winning the World title in Beijing as well as holding the African Record and Personal Best of 92.72m.

His main rival Anderson Peters of Grenada topped the group with 89.53, ahead of Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan (85.28m), American Curtis Thompson (84.72m).

German Julian Weber dominated Group A with an 87.21m throw, to be joined by Dawid Wegner of Poland (85.67m), and defending champion Neeraj Chopra of India (84.85m).
