Junior Starlets, the national under 17 women team returned into the country full of song and dance following their victory against South Africa at the FIFA Under 17 Women World qualifiers.
The Mildred Cheche coached side recorded a commanding 2-0 victory over South Africa’s Bantwana in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Speaking upon the team’s arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, FKF General Secretary and CEO Dennis Gicheru said the result was a testament to proper planning and preparation. He lauded the team’s exciting brand of football, noting that the girls have given Kenyans a side worth rallying behind, and called on fans to turn out in large numbers for Sunday’s return leg at Nyayo National Stadium as the Junior Starlets bid to secure another World Cup ticket to Morocco.
FKF Head of National Teams Athanas Obala commended the technical bench for assembling a competitive squad and expressed confidence that the Junior Starlets will finish the job and book their place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
