Establishing athlete Justus Soget will face off with elite runners as search for IAAF Diamond League points starts in Doha, Qatar today.
Soget, a form three student at Kirobon Secondary School in Nakuru County, beat a host of other runners at the 5th leg of Athletics Kenya Track and Field in Mumias to take the title and will be seeking to extend the winning ways.
But he has to deal with George Managoi, the World Under 18, 1,500m champion, compatriots Jackson Kivuva, Bethwell Birgen, Charles Simotwo in the Kenyan contingent.
Former world 800m champion Eunice Sum will square out with all time winner Caster Semenya in 1,500m women.
Apart from Semenya, Sum will face off with Kenyan Winny Chebet, Nelly Jepkosgei, Judith Kiyeng together with Emily Tuei.
As George Manangoi battle out in men’s 1,500m, his elder brother Elijah Manangoi will be targeting the podium in 800m together with Kipyegon Bett, Nicholas Kipkoech and Ferguson Rotich.
Former world cross country champion Agnes Tirop, who has recoverd from an injury will be in action, competing in 3,000m.
The reigning world 10,000m bronze medalist will face off with former world 3,000m steeplechase champion Hyvin Kiyeng, former world youth 2,000m silver medalist Norah Jeruto, Caroline Kipkirui, World Cross Country bronze medallist Lilian Kasait and the World and Commonwealth Games champion in 5,000m Hellen Obiri.
