Kakamega Homeboyz players’ salary to be slashed by half

Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Kakamega Homeboyz players will have their salaries slashed by half due to the effects of coronavirus.

Team manager Boniface Imbenzi said the players will have to cut their salaries by 50% beginning this April.

The community club, sponsored by the Kakamega County government and individuals, fans and well wishers Imbenzi said that they had a short meeting with the players and unanimously agreed to implement the pay cut as they monitor the current Coronavirus threat in the country.

“We have had a productive meeting with the players and have agreed to have their salaries cut if things will not change.

“The current situation is not encouraging economically things are getting tough each and every day we have therefore advised all our players and the rest of the staff to tighten their belts starting April. Imbenzi stated

The club chairman Cleophas Toto Shimanyula took issue with the Federation of Kenya Football saying they should   checkout their poor approach in running football something that has brought wrangles and could lead to the Fifa ban.

“It’s so disappointing that the issue of former national coach like Adel Amrouch cannot be handled on time. The federation has been enjoying lucrative sponsorship yet couldn’t settle his salary arrears that has accumulated into millions of shillings exposing the country to a possible ban,” said Shimanyula.
