FIA World Rally championships (WRC) series leader Kalle Rovanpera continued with his lead at the World Safar rally Championships in Naivasha, Kenya ahead of tomorrow’s finals.
The Finland international drove to lead on top with 40.3 seconds ahead of Briton Elfyn Evans while Japanese Takamoto Katsuta is third as defending champion Frenchman Sebastian Ogier is fourth.
The third-fastest driver on the opening Soysambu test and set a similar pace with his colleagues to place sixth at Elmeinteita. When several drivers hit trouble in the 31.04km.
Evans was Rovanperä’s closest challenger and moved into the runners-up spot on the first stage when Katsuta had a misunderstanding with his pace notes.
WRC2 leader Kajetan Kajetanowicz was eighth overall in a Škoda Fabia Rally2, followed by Puma privateer Jourdan Serderdis. Sean Johnston rounded off the leaderboard in a Citroën C3 Rally2.
