Kamar Etyang shine at Bermuda Continental Tour

Making his debut at the Continental Tour, Kenya’s Junior runner Kamar Etyang defeated experienced runners to win the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting in Bermuda, USA.

The Flora Duffy Stadium encounter was good for the Kenyan runner who will be running for Kenya at the world under 20 championships in Cali, Colombia later in the year.

Kamar, who missed to represnt the nation at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year due to anti-doping rules, got an opportunity to run at the 2021 World Under 20 but he was stripped off the 1,500m bronze over lane infringement.

But today, he shed off the 2021 misfortunes to win the Bermuda title in his first race outside the country, won the 1,500m title in 4:45.28 to beat Amos Bartelsmeyer from Germany to second in a time of 3:45.35.

Home boy Dage Minors closed the first three podium finishes with a season best of 3:46.82.

United States Kasey Knevelbaard and Eric Holt came home in fourth and fifth in a time of 3:46.86 and 3:46.90 respectively.
