Former New York marathon champion will be chasing his personal best in half marathon when he lines up at the Copenhagen Half marathon set for 19th September in Denmark.
The three-time world half marathon champion designed his own shoe that he will use to compete in the 21km distance as part of a training base for New York marathon set for November 3rd.
The two-time world cross country champion has attracted many North Rift road race organizers naming him as their ambassador. Last weekend, he was the Kaptagat half marathon and he is also the ambassador for Family Bank half marathon set for October 6th in Eldoret.
He said he designed the shoe, indicating time he wants to run at 00:58.54 as his personal best in Denmark.
“I put my personal best inside the insoles and seeing the time every time I put them on, motivates me as I hope to run a fast time,” explained Kamworor.
“I have prepared well for the Copenhagen half marathon. I have been training very well, fit for the race hoping to perform better,” said the 2017 New York City Marathon champion.
In his deigned pair of shoe, while in colour, with blue strip manufactured by Nike, the runner said he wants to run by personal best.
He said he chose the colours to reflect the seaside of the course.
“The colours reflect the seaside and I think of water, sea of Copenhagen,” he explained.
“My main aim to Copenhagen is to run my personal best. The great race have me the opportunity to morale to design my running shoe for the event,” added Kamworor.
The front line is written “There is no finish line’, with such information, Kamworor said he believes that upon reaching the finish line he targets another goal.
“It is like climbing a tree where you always look to that higher branch and not looking back to see where you were after. The race will be a big factor for me,” added Kamworor during Kapgata half marathon on Sunday.
As an ambassador of the race, Kamworor has seen his training mates win the two editions with two times Toronto marathon winner Philemon Rono winning the opener and Daniel Kemboi winning this year’s title.
“When I see young people that I train with win such local races, I feel proud and heading to Copenhagen, it is also good for the juniors. I once tried using the shoe and it was good for me. I liked it so I decided to design the shoe.”
