Kandie in maiden victory at Chairman’s prize in Eldoret

Felix Kandie recorded his maiden win at Saturday’s Chairman’s Prize played at the 9 nine Eldoret golf club.

As a new member on the golf course after he started his golfing career in February this year, handicap 25 player carded 42 stable ford points to emerge victorious in one of the most attended golf tournaments on the par 71 course.

“This is my first victory that I have to celebrate well. I got my handicap this year and I have been trying to improve on it with my great score of 42 points,” said Kandie.

Enjoying the home course, he said that the game was very nice after teeing off at 10:40am with a perfect swing, making minimal mistakes.

“We had a very good flight where we had our own competition especially with my primary school mate Franklin Koko in our flight where I managed to win against my good friends and in the process of competing, I ended up winning my flight and now the overall title in the evening,” said Kandie.

He said that the win was a pleasantly surprising winner especially after beating his longtime friend Koko from Kericho  because he says he drives very far and he wanted to do as he did.

“I had to place a bet on him and despite him winning a few holes, the end result is that I beat him on the course that was in a perfect condition. Very  green and well maintained. It is fun and good to play and made me play better,” he says.

He added that he had good results in the past three days before the tournament played a critical role in his victory.

“I have played for the last three days and yesterday (Friday) I played the same score and I thought I was to play lower scores because in golf there is no way one can play the same score for consecutive days but I was lucky and I decided to have fun and see how it goes,” he said
