Kapenguria Heroes, Wiyeta face off at Regional Chapa Diamba finals

Former National Secondary schools Sports Association (KSSSA) football champions Wiyeta Girls will be facing off with Bomet Queens during the Rift Valley Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom finals set for this weekend at Kericho Green stadium.

Wiyeta from Trans Nzoia County who have had bad results in secondary school games will be playing the Bomet champions in the first semifinals in the girls’ category while Itigo girls tackle Achievers in the second semifinal.

Wiyeta head coach Edgar Manyara said they are well prepared for the challenge, hoping to qualify for national championships.

“We are ready, training for the championships. This will be our first time to polay at the regionsl after registering poor results in the past editions,” said Manyara.

Last year, the school was eliminated from regional school games in the hands of Gatero at the semifinals.

“The tournament is good for the girls as they prepare for other ssignents and exposing girls to various clubs across the country.,” added Manyara.

The regional championships will see the former champions Kapenguria Heroes return to the limelight after falling last year.

The West Pokot team will be facing off with While Rhinos while Uasin Gishu’s Tumkas will host Laiser Hill Academy in the second semifinal.
