Motorcross included the 2020 Nandi Challenge

Nandi 4×4 Conservation Challenge has introduced Motor cross ahead of the 4th edition set for Esther Holiday in Nandi County.

The three-day event has attracted over 50 cars that will roar in Tulon Farm, Nandi County in Nandi County from April 10th to 13th.

The event is an off-road Motorsport and Motor Cross competition where participants navigate selected tough-to-navigate hotspots. The hotspots are perfectly selected to offer a requisite level of complexity in terms of terrain, as well as offer fans panoramic views of the skyline and other tourism attractions.

Show organizer Basil Maiyo said the aim of the show is conserving the environment, expressing confidence, saying they will they have already had more competitors though registration is still going on.

“Such sport brings together hundreds of individuals from across the country for sports tourism in the heart of Nandi County thus marketing Nandi as a tourist destination,” said Maiyo.

The introduction of Motor Cross is to give an opportunity t other riders who wants to experience the terrains of Nandi their motorcycles.

“The event is growing rapidly since we have received many teams ready for the challenge. The aim is a conservation awareness of climate change trying to tell the world that we need to plant trees.

“Last year, we planted 4,000 trees but we want to plant at least 10,000 this year since the participation has grown to a greater height,” added Maiyo.

The event is organized by 029 Nandi 4×4 conservation challenge, a community, where it will provide an avenue for tree planting.

“So far, the reception has been very good. We had over 1,500 spectators, 40 cars and being the inaugural event and planted eight thousand trees. This year, we want to make it bigger and better,” he said.

He added that the challenge is growing because the number of cars so far confirmed are 20.

“We have one month ahead and with 20 cars now, it means we may surpass our target of 100 cars and over 3,000 spectators where we will plant trees in public and private schools,” he added.

Nandi 4×4 is part of the circuit, cutting across five counties but as the event grows, Maiyo says they want to bring in more counties on board after Turkana, Malindi and Nakuru counties showed interest bin hosting the event.
