Kenya’s top amateur player Michael Karanga won his first title when he successfully defending the Coronation Trophy, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) title held at the par 73 Nakuru golf club.
The reigning KAGC champion fired eight under par 211 for the title edging his main rival Muthaiga’s Daniel Kiragu with even shots at three over par 222 to finish second As host player John Kamais completed the podium positions with +7 226 tying with Nandi Bear’s player Elly Barno and Kenya Railways John Lejirma, who is also the team Kenya captain.
The three day tournament that ran from Friday to Sunday evening was good for Karanga, who had missed podium positions for many events since the series teed off in Sigona at the sigona Bowl.
He said that winning by defending the title was an added advantage for the player.
“This was a good sign that I have improve on my swing after winning with a big margin against my rival. This is a good sign of victory,” said Karanga.
