Kiambu golfer Michael Karanga won his 5th title of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) with Coronation Cup victory on the par 73 Nakuru Golf Club.
In the third and final round, the series leader fired seven under par 66 to emerge victorious with five under par 214 in the three day tournament, which is 5th after winning Sigona Bowl, Windsor Classic, Muthaiga Open, and Railway Invitation.
After the win, he will be traveling to Ethiopia for the annual Region IV Golf Championship, starting today all the way to June 11, alongside Captain Dennis Maara (Limuru), Kiambu’s Elvis Muigua and John Lejirma (Kenya Railways)
On Sunday, he fired the rare albatross on the 13th hole after he birdied in the sixth, ninth, 12th, 16th and 18th while the rest were pars.
Other winners in previous events are— John Lejirma of Kenya Railways who won the Marshall title in Njoro, Maara who won the Winston Churchill, Sammy Mulama (Golf Park) and Muigua (Trans Nzoia Open).
Coronation Cup is the eighth leg of the series, which is also the qualifier for World Amateur Golf and KAGC ranking for the battle for the Club Of the Year Trophy (COTY).
