Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) staged a surprise as hosts Ma Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and University of Eldoret (UoE) dominated the third leg of Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) sevens meeting at MMUST grounds today ahead of tomorrow’s finals.
KCA ended the reigning champions Kenyatta University’s (KU) Blak Blad journey to make it to the Main Cup quarterfinals following their 31-0 win.
After losing in the opening match 07-24 against another surprise Daystar University in pool C, KCA went ahead to thrash Technical University of Kenya (TUK) 40-07, which was the highest score of the day and ended the day’s campaign with 31-0 win against KU.
KCA coach Steve Makori attributed the win to the team’s discipline, hard work and dedication to the course of the game.
“We prepared well for this event and we are hoping to carry the trophy home. It has been our dream to play good rugby this season,” said Makori.
Taking advantage of home ground, MMUST topped pool B following their 27-12 win against Moi University who were making their maiden appearance this season as they are set to host the next event next month.
In the second match, hosts handed Kabrak their first loss in the tournament with 19-07 to top pool B as Kabrak finished second following their 15-10 win against Moi who lost all their matches to tail the pool.
