Kisii golf club’s Jared Mogeni won the Vivo Energy Golf tournament that was played today on nine hole kakamega Golf club.
Playing off handicap 17, Mogeni carded a solid 39 stable ford points to emerge victorious in the tournament that attracted 71 golfers in the countrywide golf series.
He started well with a par on hole one before droping a shot in second parred on 3rd and 4th bogeyed in 5th and dropped two shots in 6th and 7th recovered well with a par on 8th and sunk to a bogey in 9th to end the opening nine with 20 points.
With his endurance and missing putting shots, Mogeni dropped a shot in 10th and 11th parred on 12th bogeyed in 13th parred in 14th and 15th dropped shot in 16th two in 17th and one in 18th.
He said his regular practicing has paid off after playing in various clubs to sharpen his skills.
“Today my swing was good after practicing for at least three to five times a week to sharpen my skills and the fairways and greens were in good position for me to enjoy,” said Mogeni.
On 38 points was A. maichi who was the male winner while R. Sembi was the lady winner on 36 points while V. Amusala and host captain Jack Songwa were the lady and men runners-up on 36 and 37 points respectively.
Hieroinim Ikhokoro was the staff winner on 22 points while Ugandan Paul Okiring from Mbale club won the guest’s prize.
Nandi Bears Peter Terer was the longest drive men winner while home player H. Shikuku won the ladies prize. On 22, and 17 points, M. Wanjea and John Anyonyi were second and first nine winners with Dr. A. Shitseswa winning the best effort prize.
