Kenya Lionesses, the Kenya 7s national women’s team will be facing off with Argentina, Papua New Guinea and Samoa at the World Rugby 7s repechage, the Olympic Games qualifying round.
The Dennis Mwanja coached side will lead pool A at the Stade Louis II in Monaco, France from June 21st to 23rd for Paris Olympic Games.
This comes after the team failed an automatic qualification to Paris after falling to South Africa 12-7 during the finals of last year’s Rugby Africa Women’s 7s Cup in Monastir, Tunisia to finish second.
If they make to Paris, it will be their back to back at the games after Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Tokyo, Japan in both 2016 and 2021 respectively.
In Pool B, Uganda will play alongside Hong Kong China, Paraguay, and Jamaica while China, Poland, Mexico, and Czechia have been placed in Pool C.
All six World Rugby regions are represented among the 11 men’s and 11 women’s teams that have already secured their spots in Paris via the HSBC SVNS and regional qualification competitions.
