Kenya Lionesses squad named ahead of Dubai7s invitation

Kevin Wambua has named three new players in a strong squad as Kenya Lionesses is set to compete at the Second Leg of HSBC Women’s Seven’s series in Dubai7s which takes place on 29th and 30th November.

The Africa women sevens champions landed the Dubai invitation following their victory against Uganda Lady Cranes at the Africa championships to earn the invitation. The new call ups are Stella Wafula, Anne Gorety and Christabel Tata all from the Standard Chartered Impala Ladies.

Wambua’s charges are in Pool A alongside Ireland, Russia and the Glendale Champions, New Zealand. Glendale is the first leg of the Women’s Sevens Series.

The new call ups will join nine regulars in the squad: Captain Philadelphia Olando (Northern Suburbs), Sheila Chajira(Homeboyz), Sinaida Aura(Northern Suburbs), Sarah Oluche (Mwamba), Diana Awino(Standard Chartered Impala Ladies), Grace Adhiambo (Nakuru), Janet Okello(Mwamba), Sophia Ayietta(Homeboyz) and Cynthia Camilla(Homeboyz).

Including the three new faces is part of our long term plan for the Lionesses to have depth as we prepare for the Tokyo Olympics Qualifiers later next year.

The team leaves for Dubai on Sunday 25th November.
