Kenya Volleyball champions Kenya Pipeline and Prison Kenya will renew their rivalry as Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league first leg serves off in Bungoma County this weekend, culminating in Governor’s Cup.
But top men teams General Service Unit (GSU) and Prison Kenya will miss the opening leg as they will be travelling to Egypt for Africa Men Volleyball Club championships that serves off on 26th March.
The two Kenyan arch rivals met last during the Africa Women volleyball Club championships in Al Ahly Egypt, seeking the third and fourth places but bragging rights went to national champions who won bronze.
Come this weekend, the two rivals will open the court in the first match of KVF at Bungoma High school.
Bungoma County, which has sponsored both men and women teams that plays at KVF National league, with the league being played on Friday (March 23) followed by a two day tournament sponsored by the County Government of Bungoma headed by Governor Wycliffe Wangamati
A self sponsored team, Bungoma Bombers are also taking part in the national league for the second year running.
The league has also attracted two teams sponsored by the County Governments of Vihiga and Kericho, which will also be featuring in the league. Kericho team is coached by Juma Walukhu long time National player cum National Coach.
New comers in the league in the men’s category are Naks club from Nakuru and Equity Bank from Nairobi.
There will be 14 fixtures for men’s team while women will have eight fixtures as arranged below.
