Reigning Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league champions Prison Kenya and returnees Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) lost their matches at the Africa Women’s Volleyball Club championships in Cairo, Egypt.
In the first match, the prison wardress, who finished fourth last year went down 1-3 against GSP from Algeria before the bankers, who are returning into the tournament after years of absence losing to hosts Sporting in the second match for Kenyan team by similar margin.
The Algerian side won the opening set of 15-25 but Kenyan champions claimed the second set 25-14 but using experience, GSP worked their way to claim the third and 4th set to register 100% wins in the tournament that kicked off on Saturday.
KCB lost to Sporting 3-1 in one of the fierce battle for honours. KCB, just like Prison Kenya lost first set 25-19 but won the second at 23-25 but resilient Sporting, enjoying home fans won the remaining two sets in 25-20 and 25-23.
