Nekesa on hattrick as Kenya’s rising Starlets thrash Angola

Valarie Nekesa grabbed a hattrick when Rising Starlets, the national under 20 women team thrashed visiting Angola 6-1 in the first leg of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Nyayo National Stadium today.

The hosts went ahead through Nekesa’s goal beating goalkeeper Helena Kambinda in the 3rd minute or a 1-0 lead before doubling the score for her brace for 2-0 in the 6th minute and sealed a hattrick at the 21st minute for 3-0 before Ivone Julio secured a consolation in the 23rd minute for 3-1.

Charity Midewa scored a brace in the for a 4-1 before earning a brace six minuted later and Faith Naliaka grabbed the 6th to seal the 6-1 victory for Beldine Odemba side ahead of the return leg next Saturday in Luanda, Angola.

The team that emerges victorious in this match, based on the aggregate score, will move on to face the winner of the second-round matchup between Cameroon and Botswana in the third round.
