Kenya wins second silver as World Relays ends in Silesia

Kenyan sprinters Mark Otieno, Elijah Onkware, Mike Mokamba and Hesborn Ochieng won the second silver and third medal for Kenya at the World Athletics Relays championships that came to an end today in Silesia, Poland at the Silesia stadium.

The team added another silver medal to make it three in the medal basket after winning another silver in 2x2x400m Mixed relays and bronze in Shuttle Hurdle Relays yesterday

Otieno led in the men’s 4x200m with Onkware, Mokamba and Ochieng after clocking 1:24.26 behind champions Germany who won in 1:24.26 with Portugal (1:24.33) and Ecuador (1:24.89) in third and 4th positions respectively.

In other Sunday results, Kenyan women sprinters finished 5th in the 4x200m relay with Joan Cherono, Doreen Waka, Monica Safania and Maximila Imali who timed 1:38:26.

Homebased team won the title in 1:22.43 ahead of Ireland (1:35.93) and Ecuador completing the podium in 1:36.86 with Denmark (1:37.80) in 4th.
