Kenya’s Chipu take on Samoa in World Rugby Under-20 Trophy tomorrow

Chipu, the Kenya Under-20 rugby team will be facing off with Samoa in the opening match of the World Rugby Under-20 Trophy at Nyayo Stadium tomorrow.

The Curtis Olago side take on the Pacific Islanders after naming his squad that has vice captain Geylord Ngasi, Jeremy Odhiambo and Raymond Chacha.

Stanislaus Shikoku and the towering AndyCole Omollo playing the role of locks, Laban Kipsang, Iddo Kuta and Jacktone Omondi start in the back row. 

In the back line, Patrick Wainaina and Eddy Wambugu start as the half-back pairing.

In midfield, skipper Michael Wamalwa and Chacha Masega will start with the back three featuring Faran Juma, Alvin Kalori and Raphael Wanga. 

Chipu memorably finished fourth in 2009 when Kenya last hosted the event and sixth in 2019 in Brazil.

Captain Michael Wamalwa asked fans to turn up in large numbers and cheer the side as they take on the Islanders at noon.

The action starts at 10 am when Scotland, who were relegated from the top tier face African champions Zimbabwe in a tricky clash.

Uruguay then tackle the USA at 2 pm before Spain and Hong Kong clash at 4 pm.

Tickets are selling at Sh1000 for VIPs with terrace tickets going at Sh300.

The winner of the tournament will get promoted to play in the World Rugby Under 20 Championship next year.
