Kibiwot, Kigen sails through at Tokyo Games

Commonwealth Games 3,000m silver medalist Abraham Kibiwott and African 3,000m steeplechase champion Benjamin Kigen sailed to the finals of water and barriers race at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Competing in heat 2, Kibiwot easily won in 8:12.24 ahead of Ethiopia’s Getnet Wale

Kigen finished third in heat one.

But it was disappointing for world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion and national champion Leonard Bett who failed to progress after finishing 5^th in heat three. The heat was won by Moroccan Sofioune El Bakkali.
