Reigning world under 18 400m silver medalist Mary Moraa is the only hope for Kenya in the 800m at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan.
Moraa will be chasing to win the second gold for Kenya since Pamela Jelimo won the title in 2008 after finishing third in Heat 3 when she clocked 2:01.66.
The heat was won by American Raevyn Rogers in 2:01.41.
It was another disappointment as former world 800m champion Eunice Sum failed to qualify after finishing 6th in heat 2.
Serving as Kenya team overall captain, Sum missed out as the six fastest losers slots.
Another Kenyan Emily Cherotich Tuei came in last position in heat 6, also failing to make the cut.
