David Kimani won his first scrabble career title during the Scrabble Association of Uganda championships, which are part of the Africa Scrabble Championships (ASC), formerly Pan African Scrabble Championships (PANASA) qualifiers in Jinja, Uganda.
The Kenyan said that the win came as a surprise since he did not expect following the top players during the championships.
He edged out experienced players like Allan Oyende, Ugandan Edgar Ondongkara, Bernard Amuke among others.
“I am happy to have won the title among the multiple champions. It was an honour to play with them and a bonus to be crowned the champion,” said Kimani.
The two-day event brought together top seed Kenyan scrabblers and Ugandans as they seek tom qualify for the ASC championships that will be held in Lusaka Zambia.
