Kipkenda and team elected unopposed at Rift valley schools

A strong line up helped Patrick Kipkenda team to sweep all the positions during Rift Valley Region Secondary Schools Sports Association (RVRSSSA) elections held on Friday at the Nakuru school in Nakuru County.

After acting as the regional chairman, Kipkenda was officially elected as the chairman of the larger Rift valley that constitutes 14 counties.

Kipkenda, who has been acting as the chairman following the promotion of then chairman Kipchumba Maiyo as the acting national chairman when Peter Orero resigned when he was elected as a Member of National Assembly says he has good plans to improve the sports in schools.

“We have good talents in the Rift Valley region and for our case it is a matter of sharpening their skills to meet the required standards. I was elected unopposed, both at the County level (Uasin Gishu) and the region meaning that teachers in sports have trust in me,” said Kipkenda.

He said that since the region will be hosting term one national school games, they need to be ready for the event.

“As the chairman of the region and Uasin Gishu, we shall be hosting both the regional and National term one games and this calls for better preparations for planning. I have a plan on how this shall be sorted out,” he added.

During the Friday elections, Kipkenda was elected unopposed, same as his first and second vice chairmen Philip Ipat and Sammy Githuku representing Turkana and Nakuru Counties respectively.

The post of secretary was won by Kirwa Koech, who retained his position. The Elgeyo Marakwet County based Kirwa is also the national executive member.

The treasurer’s post will be served by Baringo’s Jackson Rotich and will be assisted by Mark Seii of Bomet while Organising secretary post went to Peter Mulambula from Trans Nzoia and will be deputized by Jacob Barusei from narok..

“We had a strong team that was feared that is why we won unopposed in all the seats,” said Kipkenda, the kapsoya secondary school principal.
