Kiprop and Kipketer are Standard Chartered Marathon champions

Former Standard Chartered Nairobi marathon champion Elisha Kiprop and former Mumbai marathon champion Valentine Kipketer claimed the 2021 Standard Chartered Nairobi marathon titles held today in Kenyan capital.

Kiprop reclaimed the 2018 feet to win the men’s race in 2:11.07 beating Alphonse Kigen and Joshua Kogo who finished second and third positions respectively in 2:11.14 for the title.

Experienced Keter, the former Amsterdam marathon, came with experience from the running family to win the women’s title in 2:30.01 ahead of Naomi Maiyo (2:32.22) and Beatrice Cheptoo closing the podium in 2:32.33.

Kipketer also won the Lille Half marathon and Berlin half marathon in her road running career and even represented Kenya at the world championships in marathon.

The women’s 10km race was won by Faith Chepkoech, who clocked 33:15.0. Dorothy Kipkilach took second place with a time of 33:30.7. Sharon Jemutai finished one second later to take third place
