Reigning world under 20 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto and reigning London Marathon champion Brigid Kosgei broke the long lasting course records at the 50th edition of Running AJC Road Race in USA today.
Apart from setting new records, they led Kenyans to all podium positions.
KKipruto reduced the race into a family matter after edging out his young brother Bravin Kogei to second position.
Kipruto ran 27:01 breaking a 23 year old record that was set by Joseph Kimani while Kogei, a Form four student at Kombatich high school was second timing 27:29 before Kennedy Kimutai ended the podium timing 27:54 In an all Kenyan podium sweep.
In women, Kosgei won the race timing 30:22 beating former world cross country champion Agnes Jebet Tirop to second and Fancy Chemutai to third in another podium sweep.
The Chicago marathon champion broke the record set by Lorna Kiplagat at 30:32. Tirop returned in 30:32 and Chemutai in 30:32.
