Reigning Olympic and World 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslas Kipruto has finally been arraigned in court over claims of defilement.
As Kipruto was in court, hundreds of residents crowded outside the court with placards against the action that the great runner has been doing.
After a month for a manhunt, after hiding, the 2019 World 3000m steeplechase champion has been arraigned in Kapsabet court today.
Wearing his red jacket, Kipruto presented himself before principal magistrate David Ocharo facing two counts of defiling and engaging in indecent Act with a child.
It is believed that between October 20th and 21st, 2020 at Tironin village in Mutwot, Nandi County Kipruto defiled a girl aged 15 contrary to Sexual Offences Act of 2016.
However, he denied the charges and was released in a ksh. 200,000 cash bail and a surety of similar amount.
Ocharo directed that the case will come up for hearing on May 10th 2021 next year.
