Kipruto set meeting record as Omanyala lose to Rodgers at Meeting de l’Eure

Collins Kipruto won his third world indoor title after setting a new record at the Meeting de I’Eure in Val-de-Reuil in France.

It was a bad outing for Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala Omurwa, who was beaten in the 60m race.

Kipruto, who had won the world indoor Games twice added his third title setting the meeting 800m record after winning in 1:47.05 defeating World Under-20 800m bronze medallist Noah Kibet and Morocco’s Mostafa Smaili as Cornelius Tuwei settled fifth in 1:48.38.

In men’s 60m, Omanyala was second after former World Indoor silver medallist Michael Rodgers 6.64 seconds.

Omanyala had on Saturday broken the national record in 60m Indoor once again when he rallied from behind to clock 6.60 seconds to win at Meeting Metz Monselle Athlelor, another World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver event in Metz, France.

Fresh from competing at the Agnes Tirop Memorial, world under 20 1,500m bronze medalist Edinah Jebitok finished sixth in 8:45.46.
