Kipruto, Tirop claim 10km Tuskys Great Run titles

Reigning world 10,000m bronze medalists Agnes Tirop and Rhonex Kipruto were the winners of 10km Tuskys Great Road race ran today Sunday 24th in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

The world under 20 10,000m champion defeated other world runners like Africa Africa junior cross country champion Nicholas Kimeli Kipkorir, Daniel Simiyu and Jacob Krop for the title.

As he chases maiden Olympic Games medal next year, Kipruto said he prepared well for the title and he managed to win it despite changing from Cross country to road race.

“It is good to defend my title and hope to continue my training as I plan to write history in Tokyo next year,” said Kirptuo.

Tirop, the former world cross country champion also won the title afrer winning last year’s cross country title at Huruma grounds.

Tirop defeated former world cross country champion Irene Cheptai as well as Briliant Jepkorir, the 2019 First Lady Half marathon champion.

“I have try my best to compete in double at the Olympic games. Am hoping my preparations will bear good results,” said Tirop who trains in Uasin Gishu County.

Apart from her win, she wanted to prove that she can run her best race at home.

“This is my training base and I had to ensure that I deliver better results to my home fans, which I delivered well without any doubt,” added Tirop.
