World 10,000m bronze medalist Rhonex Kipruto and Senbere teferi were the winners of today’s Atalanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) Peachtree 10km Road Race held today in the United States of America.
As the country marked their independence day, the world 10km record holder Kipruto won his second title of the race after the 2019 victory. Today, he won the title in 27:25 ahead former World half marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie coming second after clocking 27:34 with Ethiopian Jemal Yemer coming in 4th position in 27:49.
The 22 year old failed to erase his own record he set in 2019 when he won in 27:01.
In women, former world cross country champion Irene Chepet Cheptai won silver behind Ethiopian Teferi.
Teferi won the title in 30:49 with Cheptai, who is in Kenya team for Commonwealth Games was second in 30:49 in a photo finish as world marathon women record holder Brigid jepchirchir Kosgei completed the podium in 30:57.
