Korir lead Kenya’s 1-2 finish at Venice marathon

Judith Korir led a 1-2 podium finish for Kenyan women runners at the Venice marathon held on Sunday 27th.

But Henry Kiprop finished second and Andrew Kimtai settling third in men’s race.

Korir, who trains in Iten, won the title in 2:29:20 ahead of former world cross country junior bronze medalist Cynthia Jerop who clocked 2:31:33 and Ethiopia’s Meka Wake Washo came third in 2:34:36.

Ethiopia’s Lencho Tesfaye won the men’s title in 2:10:49 ahead of Kiprop (2:10:55) and Kimtai (2:11:58).

Daniel Nderitu (2:12:53) and Moses Mengich (2:13:18) came in fourth and fifth respectively.
