Korir triumph as Lokedi set course record at Boston marathon

Reigning Chicago marathon champion John Korir and former New York City marathon champion Sharon Lokedi were crowned the champions of 129 edition of Boston marathon held today in Boston, USA.

Korir, the two time Los Angeles marathon winner won the race in 2:04:45 as the 6th fastest marathoner in history.

The young brother of Wesley Korir, the winner of the same race in 2012 edged out Tanzanian and 2017 world bronze medallist Alphonce Felix Simbu was second as Kenya’s Cybrian Kotut in a photo-finish in 2:05.04.

Lokedi won the women race at 2:17:22, which was a course record after beating defending champion Hellen Onsand Obiri as Ethiopian Yalemserf Yehualaw was third.

Her course record ended the 2:19:59 time set by Ethiopia’s Buzunesh Deba in 2014.
