Collins Koros and Winnie Chebet claimed double titles at the concluded Kenya Defence Forces Athletics Championships at Nyayo National stadium.
Competing for Kahawa, Koros, who won the 10,000m on Monday, added another title in 5,000m ahead of national trials for Olympic Games to be staged at Kasarani.
Chebet also won a double in 1,500m and 800m titles. Running for Thika, Chebet won the 800m in 2:06.62 ahead of Jarinter Mawia (Mtongwe) and Vivian Chebet (Nanyuki) in 2:07.75 and 2:08.48 respectively.
In her 1,500m, she crossed the finish line 4:08.48 edging out Judy Kiyeng of Moi Airbase (MAB) and Stella Jepleting (Lanet) in 4:09.16 and 4:09.95.
In other races, African 3,000m steeplechase champion Benjamin Kigen and Irene Kamais won in their respective races.
Kigen from Thika defeated Vincent Kipyegon (8:36.39) and Elkana Cherop (8:38.31) to win the 3,000m steeplechase title ahead of next month’s national Olympic trials for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Thika’s Kamais won the women’s 10,000m title 32:01.96 edging out Joyce Chepkemoi (Laikipia) to second timing 32:12.76 while New York Marathon champion Joyceline Jepkosgei (Mundika) completed the podium in 32:23.39.
Nanyuki’s African Games silver medallist Cornelius Tuwei won the men’s 800m in 1:44.63.
Charles Simotwo timed 3:46.88 to win the men’s 1,500m ahead of George Manang’oi (3:46.93) and Matthew Kipsang (3:47.02).
