France and Fiorence marathon champion Cyprian Kotut and Ethiopian Yalemzerf were the winners of today’s Haspa Hamburg marathon held today in Germany.
Kotut defeated Ugandan Stephen Kissa by a second to win in 2:04.47 and 2:04.48 before Ethiopian Workine tadese completed the podium in 2:05.07.
In women, former Olympic Games marathon silver medalist Priscah Jeptoo was the best Kenyan when she returned 6th in 2:28.48 in a race won by Ethiopian Yehualaw with a course record of 2:17.23 leading compatriots Wereka Fikrte and Bone Cheluke for a podium sweep.
