Kwanthanze, and Kamusinga retained their volleyball and handball titles while Kakamega were the winners of rugby15s title.
National volleyball champions Kwanthanze managed to defend their following their 3-0 win over compatriots Cheptil in an all Kenyan final.
They won in 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 after eliminating Soweto at the semifinals yesterday. But Soweto defeated Rwanda’s St Alloys 3-1 for bronze as Mogonga lost 3-2 to Rwanda’s Don Bosco Gatenga for bronze to finish 4th.
The national and Western champions mercilessly thrashed Okeesewa from Tanzania 56-15 in the final round robin match played at Safari grounds.
The barbarians topped the table with 36 points after winning all their six matches to improve from last year’s bronze in Rwanda.
Their compatriots Dagoretti scooped silver with 29 points as Uganda’s Namilyango blocked Kenyan podium sweep as in third as Kangaru Scame 4th.
Kamusinga from Western revenge against debutants Kirandich, the Rift valley champions in girls handball final with a 24-22 in an all Kenyan final.
Kirandich won the National title in Mombasa defeating Kamusinga.
National soccer champions Nyakach Girls High School and Itigo Girls High School lost their respective football semi-finals on post-match penalties to Ugandan opposition.
Nyakach went down 4-3 to Kawempe Muslim Secondary School as Itigo lost 9-8 Mukono High School in the other last four clash. Kenya had won the title last year through Kwale Girls Secondary School, who failed to reach the regionals. The two schools will battle for the bronze on Saturday as the Ugandans clash in the final.
In hockey, Uganda’s Kakungulu Memorial Secondary School upset St Cecelia Misikhu 2-1 in the final at the Twiga club. It is the first time Uganda has won the title since the inception of the games.
