John Lejirma won Goldfields title, the second win of the ongoing Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) on par 72 Kakamega golf club.
The Kenya Railways golfer won the title after firing three over par 147, the second one after Golf Park Open months ago.
He said that he will be using KAGC meetings across the country to play better golf at the championships.
The man, who played Magical Kenya Golf championships won the Goldfields title with three over par 147 in the two day event.
“It was a good tournament and I want to use this win as part of my preparations for the Victoria Cup title chase. The win today and better results next week at the Limuru Open, it will give me a chance to play well at the East Africa annual tournament,” said Lejirma.
In his maiden trip to Kakamega’s 36 hole tournament, Lejirma fired three over par 75 on Saturday before enjoying a good ride on Sunday with level par 72 to win with three over par 147.
“it was my first trip to kakamega that came with good tidings. The course was so playable and I managed to secure good results,” said Lejirma who beat defending champion Nelson Koech from Nandi Bears’ after finishing second.
On Sunday, the win of Golf Park Open started on high with a birdie on hole one followed by a par in the second. But he dropped a shot in third recovered with a birdie in 4th bogeyed in 5th before sinking back to back pars in 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th for a total of level par 36.
On his resumption in the second nine, he had a birdie in 10th, parred from 11th to 14th dropping a shot in 15th recovered with a par in 16th bogeyed in 17th and cleared the course with a birdie in the 18th.
