Kenya Railways golfer John Lejirma was crowned the champion of today’s Field Marshall and Toby Gibson Trophy title at the nine hole Njoro golf club in Nakuru County.
The reigning Kenya One stunned Kiambu’s Elvis Muigua at the match play final to win the title.
Lejirma says that he managed to hold onto the tough challenge to emerge victorious in a tournament that attracted 38 amateurs ahead of 2024 Magical Kenya Open.
“It was not easy to win but it shows that there are good things coming ahead of me. This is the victory and I want to try my best in the next event,’ said Lejirma.
He added that the tournament was tough comparing to other events in the KAGC series.
At the semifinals of the match-play, the champion defeated vet lab’s Ebill Onmollo 2 and 3 while Muigua recorded similar score against Golf park’s Sammy Mulama, the Golf Park open at the Golf park golf club last month.
