Kenyan John Lejirma won the Uganda Open Amateur title played on par 72 Uganda Golf club.
Making his debut at the Uganda Open, the Kenya Railways golfer carded 287 gross in the 72 hole tournament, beating Uganda captain Joseph Cwinya-ai.
He beat the likes of Michael Alunga, Joseph Kasozi, Dennis Asaba, Christopher Baguma, Rodell Gaita to win his maiden Uganda Open title.
Lejirma defeated then defending champion Daniel Nduva with, David Odhiambo, and Nicholas Rokoine who won the tournament in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
Lejirma wrapped up the championship in style notching six birdies on holes; 1, 4, 6, 8, 13, and 15, and despite bogeys on holes; 2, 7, and 16 and a double bogey on No.3, he completed his round with a one-under-par 71.
