2015 Golfer Of The Year champion John Karichu won the Coronation and Bendor Trophy title at par 73 Nakuru golf course.
The Limuru Country club won the leg, which is the 7th meeting of Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) on Sunday afternoon.
He carded eight over par 227 Gross in the 54 hole two day event beating Kiambu golfer Mwaura Karanga by two shots to second place.
On Sunday, Karichu played one shot under 72 on the final round on Sunday to finish.
The plus one handicap golfer started on a low note carding five over 78 gross in the outward nine and returned with four over 77 gross on the opening day in the 36 holes to end Saturday.
Luck came by his side on Sunday as he carded one under 72 gross to emerge victorious.
His win did not come easily as he faced stiff challenge from Dennis Saikwa who led on day one. At the same time, the greens proved to be challenging too.
“Today’s win did not come easily since I had to fight for top hournors as many golfers were ahead of me. I had to come from behind to beat the rest,” said karichu.
He added “There was the problem with the greens where the ball rolled freely.”
Karanga added three over 76 gross to his Saturday’s seven over (75,78) to finish second with two over 229 gross. On Saturday, Karanga had finished 5th overall.
Royal club’s Dennis Saikwa, who won first round with four over, completed the podium with four over 130 Gross beating series leader Mike Kisia from Vet Lab by a shot to fourth with 131 Gross as Jeff Kubwa, who is turning professional completed the top five positions with five over 132 Gross.
