Kenya hit Japan after the hooter to register their maiden win at the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, japan.
After a disappointing group stages, where the Kenya Lionesses were consoled by the 21-17 win over hosts Japan after coming from 5-0 down.
Japan were the first to touch down with unconverted try but back to back converted tries bgy Lionesses earned a 14-05 lead into break.
Hara Wakaba gave Japan a 5-0 lead with Sauda Aura faiing to add the extras but the Felix Oloo led side went ahead when Grace Adhiambo converted her try for a 5-7 before Sauda Aura fed Janet Okello for converted try to lead 05-17 into water break.
At the resumption, the hosts dominance continued when Foide Mifuyu’s try was not converted for a 10-14 as Marin Kajiki touched down with a successful conversion for the hosts to take a 17-14 lead.
But after the hooter, the spirited Camilla Atieno touched down with a converted try for a 17-21 win.
Lionesses will now face Canada for the ninth place play-off while Japan play Brazil.
