Lionesses to jet out for World Cup qualifiers

Kenya Lionesses, the Kenya women rugby team will depart today for the Rugby World Cup qualifiers in South Africa.

The Felix Ochieng led team will be facing off with Madagascar, Uganda and South Africa for the single slot for 2021 World Cup.

With this, The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) is crying aloud for the government through sports fund to release the Kshs 190 million to the foot for the team’s preparations.

Kenya Lionesses will kick-off against Madagascar on Friday at 2pm according to Kenya Rugby Union.

Kenya’s second game will be against Uganda on August 13 at 2pm and end the campaign against hosts South Africa on August 17 at 4pm.

The winner of the tournament will qualify directly to the World Cup to be held in New Zealand while the second-best team will play a match against a selected team from South America and join the global repechage tournament if victorious.
