London marathon celebrate ‘absent’ Joyce Chepchumba

Celebrated Joyce Chepchumba has been trending this week after Virgin London marathon ceebrated her as the first Kenyan and African won to win the London marathon.

 The ‘missing’ Chepchumba, who has not been in public since she won both Lisbon and Berlin half marathons.

Chepchumba won the title in 1997 as the first African and they twitted “Today we’re celebrating Kenyan running legend Joyce Chepchumba. In 1997 she became the first black woman to win the London Marathon. She went on to win the Chicago, Tokyo and New York City marathons. A pioneer and a history maker.”
