Four Kenyan amateur golfers will be in action today to reclaim the Africa Region Four title from the hands of Ugandans as the annual tournaments tees off today in Arusha Tanzania at Lake Victoria Serena Golf and Spa.
The Kenya Amateur match play champion Dennis Maara from Limuru, aslos serving as the team captain will lead Kenya Amateur Open Stroke play champion Adel Balala of Nyali, John Lejirmah of Kenya Railway Golf Club and Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf to cahse the title.
The annual tournament returns after two years following the coronavirus pandemic and in 2019, Uganda team won the title in Burundi after defending the 2018 title in Mombasa, Kenya.
Maara, the immediate Limuru captain lead the long-hitter Balala who fired an excellent shot on the 225-yards par three-seventh.
Balala is drawn first with Ethiopia’s Binyam Slissie, Burundi’s Abdoul Rahman Rukundo and Tanzania’s leading amateur Victor Joseph.
Karanga face Uganda’s Godfrey Nsubuga, Ally Isanzu of Tanzania, and Ethiopia’s Tilaye Getane.
Lejirmah drawn with Tanzania’s Dawdi Isika, Felix Dusabe of Rwanda and Uganda’s Michael Alunga.
Maara will play alongside George Sembi of Tanzania, Saidi Toyi of Burundi and Alfonse Kwizera of Rwanda.
